barton_jimmy_joe.jpgJimmy Joe Barton, 62, of Radford, Va., passed away on Monday, September 28, 2009, at the New River Valley Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Radford and a graduate of Radford University. He was a local businessman, friend and father who was always quick with a joke and a smile. He was definitely one of a kind. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era having served in the United States Air Force as a mechanic on the F105 and was based at Takhli Air Force Base in Thailand. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred Elijah and Katherine VanHoy Barton. Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Barton, of Little Rock, Ark.; stepson, Darin Veasey, of Vinton; sister, Linda Barton Hale, of Elizabeth City, N.C.; and two brothers and sisterin-law, Hubert C. and Stacy H. Barton and Winfred “Wint” Earl Barton, all of Radford. Services will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
