Barnett, Betty Jo Fain Shaver

Betty Jo Fain Shaver Barnett, 72, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

She was born in Montgomery County, on October 13, 1935 to the late June and Elizabeth Price Fain. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Allen M. Shaver and a brother, Bobby Fain.

She was active at the Blacksburg First Wesleyan Church and a member of the Wesleyan Women. She enjoyed furthering the message of God through her music ministry at local nursing homes.

She is survived by her husband, Homer Barnett of Blacksburg; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda B. and Michael Dowdy of Pembroke; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven R. and Debbie Shaver of Chesterfield, David Wayne Shaver of Pembroke and Jeffrey Lynn Shaver and Melanie Sarrat of Bassett; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Tom Jones of Melbourne, Fla., Hazel and Cooper Johnston of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; brother, Don W. Fain of Blacksburg; sister-in-law, Kathleen Price of Blacksburg; and grandchildren, Rachel Shaver of Chesterfield, Krystal McPeak and Michelle McPeak, both of Christiansburg.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Blacksburg First Wesleyan Church with the Rev. John Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg First Wesleyan Church, 1406 Giles Road, Blacksburg, Va. 24060.

Friends may call anytime after 12 noon on Friday, November 30, 2007 and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
