Barnett, Betty Beckner

Betty Beckner Barnett, 78, of Pembroke, Va., went to be with her Lord on Friday, December 3, 2010, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Barnett; a granddaughter, Holly Arthur; her mother and father, James Lee and Minnie Buford Beckner; sister, Mary McCroskey; and brother, Verlie Beckner. Surviving is her sister, Clare McCroskey; and brother, James Beckner, both of Pearisburg, Va. She is also survived by her daughters, Drema Handy, of Dublin, Luther and Charlene Reed, Pembroke, Va., Linda and Ray Whittaker, of Halifax, Pa., and Becky Arthur, of Blacksburg, Va.; grandchildren, James Gillispie, of Christiansburg, Va., David Gillispie, of Dublin, Va., Shannon Lowery, of Pembroke, Va., Ricky Reed, of Pembroke, Va., Cory Reed, of Pembroke, Va., Jeremiah Whittaker, of Halifax, Pa., Caleb Whittaker, of Herndon, Pa., Zachary Whittaker, of Harrisburg, Pa., Alysa Whittaker, of Halifax, Pa., and Amy Belcher, of Roanoke, Va.; 13 great-grandchildren; several very special friends, Dawes and Connie Blevins, of Pembroke, Va., Delbert and Michelle Collins, of Pembroke Va., and Patty Midkiff, of Pearisburg, Va.; and her caring physicians, Dr. Melton and Dr. Walker. Services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2010, in the Kendall Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Church Cemetery, Pembroke.
