Barker, Zelva Mitchell

Zelva Edith Mitchell Barker, 79, of Christiansburg, Va., went to join her Heavenly Father in Heaven on Sunday, September 26, 2010. She was born in Montgomery County, Va., on December 10, 1930, to the late Keiser T. and Tokie Ellen Quesenberry Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Cline Everett Barker.

She was a loving housewife, mother and grandmother. She was very active in the Christiansburg Parks and Recreation travel tours and was a member of R.S.V.P.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Joanne Huffman and husband, Donald, of Christiansburg, Va., Linda Grubb and husband, Donald, of Riner, Va., Michael Barker and wife, Betty, of Riner, Va., and Joyce Brown and husband, Larry, of Floyd; 11 grandchildren including a grandson that she raised as her own, Chad; 11 greatgrandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, from 5until 8 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010, from the chapel of Horne Funeral Home with Pastor Don Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Floyd, Va.
