barker reba epperlyReba Epperly Barker, of Floyd (formerly of Blacksburg), passed from this life peacefully at home in the early morning hours of February 18th 2014. She was born June 8th 1924 to Annie Jones and William Dell Epperly. She was preceded in death by husband of 44 years, William Woodrow Barker; cherished great-nephew, Kevin Dewayne Early; brothers, Bob Epperly, Will Epperly, Drew Epperly; sister, Mae Epperly Kingrea; and dear friend Blanche Dickerson. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and David Rakes and beloved granddaughter Sarah Danielle Rakes all of Riner; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Mark Sowers of Floyd; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Bessie (Tootie) Epperly of Blacksburg; sister, Marie Epperly Morris of Blacksburg; brother. Ken Epperly of Christiansburg; special nieces and nephews, Sheila Morris Early of Dublin, Cheryl Morris Boley of Blacksburg, Pat Epperly Drosick of Lexington, Ky., Larry Epperly of Shawsville, Connie Butts and Jill Barker of Florida, Robin Epperly Bane of Christiansburg, Jewel Epperly Sowder of Christiansburg, Jennifer Epperly Cook of Christiansburg, Leslie Epperly of Shawsville, Glynis Epperly Estes of Newport and Joe and Terena Epperly. Special great nieces and nephews, Heather Early, Randall Womack, Brandy Womack Stiltner , Stephenie Drosick, Chrissy Chumley, Angel Epperly Canupp, Nina Epperly Laprade, Elaine Epperly Carlton, William and Matthew Epperly, Scott, Cody and Alex Sowder, Andy Bane, Matthew and Luke Cook, Melanie Epperly, Virginia Estes; and dear friends Clara Kinsley and Violet McFarland. A member of North Fork Baptist Church for 71 years and Sunday school teacher for many years, she was a faithful Christian as she showed in the love and example she set for all who knew her. She had a great love of all children that even as dementia took her memories she carried with her until the time of her death. Special thanks and love to those who cared for her and loved her during her final years Lodis Sickey, Diane Baker Linkous, Karen King, Sherry Reed and Amanda Sowers and those who cared for her and her family in her final days Dr. Richard Shepherd, Pastor Angela Carr, Rosemary Brown, Sherry Keith and all the people of Medi-Home Health and Hospice. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 20, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014, at 2 p.m. at North Fork Baptist Church, with Olen Gardner, Rebecca Pennington, and Fred Brugger officiating. Interment will follow in North Fork Cemetery.
