Barker, Laura Elizabeth

Laura Elizabeth Barker, 19, of Christiansburg, died Friday, September 21, 2007. She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on December 7, 1987.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Carlton E. Barker. Laura was a 2006 graduate of Christiansburg High School and graduated with honors. She was employed by Child Care Consultants where she worked with the Montgomery County Schools, and loved working with children. She was an active member of the Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by her parents, Richard D. and Joan J. Barker; a sister, Lee Ann M. Barker; a brother, Jacob D. Barker, all of Christiansburg; grandparents, Bill and Dorothy T. Jones of Blacksburg, Raymond O. and Betty J. McMahan of Christiansburg, David and Darlene Francisco of Salem; two special friends, Justin Lee and Brooke Shepherd; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Laura was a very loving and giving young lady who touched many lives and leaves behind many special friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 24, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jerry Shepherd, the Rev. Mike Talbert, Jr., and the Rev. Jube Burk officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday evening at Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church, 910 Montgomery Street, Christiansburg.
