Jennie Lee Barker, 82, of Christiansburg went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 25, 2014. Ms Barker was a very talented seamstress, cook and listener. Jennie worked 25 years at Kenrose Manufacturing as a sewing machine operator.

She loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to Gospel music. She never met a stranger and gave great advice. She was blessed to have many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Fredrick Ernest and Leathie Barker, brother; Edmond Barker, Brother-in-law; Emmett Akers, Sister-in-law; Kathleen Barker, nephews; Anthony Vaughan and Lawrence Hall.

She is survived by her sister; Nancy Akers, special nieces; Paulette Akers Nunley and her husband, Elwood, Leathie Hall, nephew; Edmond Barker and his wife, Donna, special great niece; Erica “Suzy” and Jason Meredith, Michelle Barker, Kimberly Barker, great nephew Thomas Barker and Wendy, great great nephews, Conner Meredith and Sebastin Barker. She is also survived by her adopted sister; Lois Wade and many special friends. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Heritage Hall Health Care Center.

The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home on Monday July 28, 2014 from 12 – 2 p.m. The going home celebration will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Jube Burk and Rev. Robert Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
