Barker, Frank Jefferson

Frank Jefferson Barker, 91, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. on April 16, 1917, to the late Charles J. and Lula Reed Barker and also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Lois D. Barker, of Blacksburg; two sisters and brother-in-law, Ethel Young, of Christiansburg, Gladola and James Howard Dowdy, of Pilot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rador Vaden and the Rev. Richard Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.

Friends may call anytime after noon on Monday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg.
