Barbero, Edna Smith

Edna Ann Smith Barbero, 91, of Virginia Beach, VA and formerly of Narrows, VA, departed this life Monday evening, August 26, 2019 in the care of Sentra Rehabilitation and Care Center in Chesapeake, VA. Born in Narrows on April 2, 1928, she was a daughter of the late “RB” Robert Bruce Smith and Martha Hale Smith Suter.

She was a 1935 graduate of Narrows High School, and earned a degree from the University of Utah. As a Para-Legal she worked for Legal Aid in Utah and NC, was a member of SOCIO, of Christ United Methodist Church in Salt Lake City, Utah, and did extensive research into the Hale Family History.

A sister, Rebecca S Taylor preceded. her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Margaret B. Trejo of Ft Monroe, VA; her sons Dr. Fred Barbero and his wife Jody of Grand Junction, Colorado and R B Barbera and his wife Mary of Fayetteville, NC; and her grandchildren Camille, John, Robert, Cris, Mary Beth, and Stephanie.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 1:00 pm in The Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with burial following in Fairview Cemetery at Narrows. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services.
