Banyai, Bruce Edward

Bruce Edward Banyai, born September 14, 1952, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday, September 6, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Pauline Banyai of Madison Hts, MI. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Lois H. Banyai; and their sons, Joel (Michelle) of Huntsville, AL, Aaron (Diana) of Norfolk, VA, and Mark (Kimberly) of Alum Creek, WV. Bruce will be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Logan, Curtis, Calleigh, Zander, Evelyn, Cora, Cynthia, and Ian. He is also survived by three brothers, Joseph (Georgia) of MI, Duane (Denise) of MI, and Bill (Bonnie) of CA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was a native of Michigan, and earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He worked for 28 years at Hercules before spending eight years at Novozymes Biologicals and three years at Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Always ready with a helping hand, Bruce was actively involved at Cambria Baptist Church where he enjoyed mentoring college students. He had a love for gardening, and was active in the American Hosta Society and was past president of the Delaware Valley Hosta Society. Bruce was also past president of the Commercial Development and Marketing Association (CDMA).

The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Horne Funeral Home. His Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017, at Cambria Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Crowgey officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery, 501 S. Franklin St., Christiansburg.
