Clyde Carson Ballinger, Jr., of Christiansburg, lost his battle to lung cancer and COPD on Tuesday, October 6th, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Junior is now at peace and in the arms of his Heavenly Father.

Junior was a man of very few words, but was a very dedicated, loving, hardworking and generous man. He was always offering out a helping hand and never expected anything in return. His lifetime job was working with asphalt at Adams Construction.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde “Coon” Ballinger, Sr. and Dollie Radford Ballinger; a step-daughter, Wanda B. Vest and two step grandchildren, Travis and Ricky Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary “Jeannie” Ballinger; step-son, Billy Brizendine, Jr. and wife, Caroline, of Christiansburg, daughters, Laura Bradford and husband, Tony, of Elliston, VA, Angela Bishop and husband, Grant, of Hurricane, WV, and Tabitha Greenhalgh and husband, Shawn, of Christiansburg, VA. He leaves behind three brothers, Jack Ballinger, and wife, BJ, Willie Ballinger, and Johnnie Ballinger; three sisters, Phyllis Jean Palmer and husband, Carl, Frances Martin, and Darlene Shelor and husband, Ronald. Also left to cherish his memories are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A very special thanks to Adams Construction and all of their employees and truck drivers. The family would like to send a special thank you to Cheri from Medi Hospice and the numerous doctors and nurses at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Turpin and Rev. Dale Colter officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 pm Friday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
