Homer Ethan Ballard, age 83, of Christiansburg, VA formerly of Pipestem, WV passed away Friday, February 01, 2013. Born January 30, 1930 at Rock Camp, WV he was the son of the late Roland E. and Mabel H. Copeland Ballard.

Homer was a Carpenter, Mechanic and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He loved bluegrass music and shared it with many. He was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Dewey and Thomas Ballard. Survivors include his wife, Carol Lea Chapman Ballard of Pipestem, WV, one son, Donald Ballard of Christiansburg, VA, two daughters, Sarah Jane Dudley of Frankford, WV and Connie Ballard and fiancé Wayne Harmon of Christiansburg, VA, four stepsons, Bobby, Melvin, Ronnie and Stevie Knight, one step daughter, Ellen Pack, one brother, John Ballard of Greenville, WV, two sisters, Cora Simpkins of Blacksburg, VA and Elizabeth Hall of Union, WV, five grandchildren, Jill, Robin, Marc, Josh and Ethan, six great grandchildren, Michaela, Hannah, Emily, Landon, Olivia and Caelyn, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellison Cemetery, Rock Camp, WV. Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, February 4, 2013 at the funeral home.
