Marie Amick Ball, formerly of Nitro, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on December 13 2006, after a long illness.

For the past 12 years, Marie has resided in Christiansburg, Va. Born on November 30, 1925 in Leivasy, West Virginia, Marie was the daughter of the late Elva McCutheon Amick and Robert Fulton Amick. She was one of eight children. Marie was married in 1945 to her beloved husband, the late Kermit Mathes Ball, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Luva Amick Ruckman and brothers Robert, Everette, Ray and Homer Amick.

Surviving Marie are her four children: Doreen Homan and husband Carl of Christiansburg, Virginia, Patricia Levi and husband Frank of Tinley Park, Illinois, Rebecca Thomasson and husband Robert of Scott Depot, West Virginia and Kermit Mathes Ball, Jr. and wife Terri of Christiansburg, Virginia; seven grandchildren: Frank Levi III and wife Susan of Illinois, Elisabeth Garrison and husband Will of Illinois, Melissa Johnson and husband Perry of West Virginia, Mark Levi and wife Sara of Illinois, Amy Thacker and husband James of West Virginia, Anna Marie Ball of Christiansburg, Virginia and Kermit M. Ball III of Christiansburg, Virginia; seven great-grandchildren: Halie Thacker, Maddie Levi, Bradley Johnson, Dylan Thacker, Sophie Levi, Stella Levi and Philip Johnson; sisters: Ruth Ann Ballard and husband Ernie of Palm Bay, Florida and Beulah Pratt of Summersville, West Virginia. She had many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Marie was a born again Christian and was a member of First Baptist Church of Nitro, West Virginia for many years. She moved her membership several years ago to the Trinity Baptist Church in Christiansburg, Virginia. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2006 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 1505 North Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Virginia. Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the church, with her grandson Kermit M. Ball III, the Rev. Matthew Kirkland and the Rev. Monroe Hedrick officiating.

Visitation will be in West Virginia, Saturday, December 16, 2006 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gatens Harding Funeral Home at 147 Main Street, Poca, West Virginia. A graveside service will follow at Tyler Mountain Memorial Gardens in Cross Lanes, West Virginia. Flowers will be appreciated, but Marie would have loved for donations to be made to Good Shepard Baptist Church Missionary Bible Fund, PO Box 398, Christiansburg, Va. 24068.
