Ruby Kinney Balarzs, 79, of Narrows, went to be with the Lord peacefully with her son, daughter-in-law and family by her side on Friday, May 29, 2009, at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. She was born in Hardy, Kentucky on June 10, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Sterling and Poly Ellen Epling Kinney. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Balarzs; a daughter, Robin Rene’ Balarzs; two sisters, Goldie Bean and Sharon Rose Kinney; and a brother, Sylvan Kinney. Ruby was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, where she was president of the Susanna Wesley Circle. She was also a member of the Red Hat Belles. She’ll best be remembered for her huge heart, outgoing personality and love of travel. She is survived by a son, Aaron Cody Balarzs and wife, Katy, of Narrows; first cousins, John Kenney Sr. and wife, Betty, of Narrows, and Lucille Steele, of Chandler, Arizona; several nieces and nephews; her beloved cat, Oreo; and many special friends from across the United States. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Narrows with the Rev. Chris Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park.
