bakken_virginia_vigueVirginia (Ginger) L. Bakken, 88, of Blacksburg, took her last breath September 2, 2015, at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital. She was born in Fernwood, Idaho, July 25, 1927, to the late Tom and Aggie Vigue.

Ginger is survived by her husband, Norman K. Bakken of Blacksburg; and children, Mark S. Bakken, Mary E. Bakken and husband, Peter Ozolins, and John T. Bakken and wife, Liza. Also surviving are Beheru A. Haile, his wife, Ayalnesh; and a total of five grandchildren, Marija, Tiana, Mateo, Meklit and Abel Norman. Ginger was preceded in death by many loved ones, including daughter, Minda Marie Bakken.

Norman and Ginger were married August 23, 1946. Over 69 years of marriage they lived and worked in eight different states and nine different countries.

Memorial services will be conducted 4 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Luther Memorial Church in Blacksburg with the Rev. Bill King officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
