Baird Jr, James Garland

James (Jim) Garland Baird Jr, 75, of Christiansburg, VA passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday November 12, 2019. He was born in Richmond, VA and raised in Staunton, VA. He graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in Staunton, VA then attended Virginia Tech where he received a BS in accounting.

Jim served in the US Army with the 101st Airborne including a tour in Vietnam. During his service he was awarded the Bronze Star Metal, the Army Commendation Metal, Good Conduct Medal, and the TET 69 Counteroffensive Metal.

He had a passion for the nonprofit organization, the North-South Skirmish Associating where he was a member for almost 40 years, served in numerous positions, and was currently serving as the organizations Treasurer.

Jim was predeceased by his father, James Garland Baird and mother, Martha Baird Young. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra (Sandy) Collins Baird; a son Jamie Baird; a Grandson Matthew Baird; and a Granddaughter Madison Baird.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
