Baird II, Guidon Tarrant

Guidon Tarrant Baird II (Guy Baird), 70, formerly of Blacksburg, passed into spirit on Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, January 21, 2008.

He was the son of the late Guidon “Duke” Baird, Virginia Tech business professor and Emma Moyers of Pulaski. Guy was born in Roanoke on October 30, 1937, attended Blacksburg High School and graduated from VPI in 1963 after serving peace-time in Korea. He moved to the Washington, D.C. area attending graduate classes at American University and worked in real estate and sales. Guy’s truest joy was exploring the less traveled inlets of the Chesapeake Bay and waters of Chincoteague Island with his wife and son in search the perfect crabcake, art form of the Eastern Shore.

Guidon is survived by his sister, Flora and her husband, Eddie Gutshall, of Christiansburg; Flora’s four children; and his sister-in-law, in Bristol. Guy’s heart’s desire was to tap dance his way into Heaven, teach a little class with his Dad, becoming finally the talented song and dance man… with Emma playing her best songs on piano.
