Bailey, Laura Boone

Laura Wills Boone Bailey, age 80, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at her home on Powell Mountain. Born October 12, 1940, on Powell Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Elsie Chambers Wills.

Laura was a member of the Rich Creek First United Methodist Church and worked at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek, VA. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Boone; son, Dennis Lee Boone; and son in law’s, Phillip Blevins and Tim Smithson.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard Bailey of the home; two daughters, Theresa Smithson of Narrows, VA, and Carol Ballengee and husband Richie of Christiansburg, VA; three sons, Wesley Boone and wife Debbie of Salem, VA, Eric Boone of Pembroke, VA, and Dale Boone of Powell Mountain Road; two brothers, John Wills and wife Sharon of Powell Mountain Road, and Darryl Wills of Peterstown, WV; one sister, Vernetta Tritt of Peterstown, WV; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Ricky Green and Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow at the Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be from 1:00PM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Due to the regulations associated with COVID-19 and the WV Governor’s Mandate, those attending the visitation and funeral services shall wear a mask and practice social distancing.
