Bailey, Harry Lee

bailey_harry_leeHarry Lee Bailey, 86 of Narrows passed away Friday, November 25th, 2016, surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on February 11th, 1930, and was the son of the late George Coburn and Gladys Mae Runions Bailey.

In addition to his mother and father, he was most recently preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Irene Bailey; a son, Jeff Bailey; a grandson, Devin Bailey; and a sister, Reba Bailey Riddle..

Harry was a retired employee of Celanese in Narrows with 49 years of service. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and good country cooking. Harry also enjoyed singing, playing the harmonica, and was a member of the Good Will Quartet. He was deeply loved by all who knew him, and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are a daughter Patty Shepherd and husband Jerry of Tennessee. A son, Steve Bailey and wife Connie of Narrows. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Hunter Bailey, Keith Shepherd and wife Raynel, Josh Shepherd and wife Jerica; and a great-grandaughter Sarah of Tennessee, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Pearisburg Church of God; 805 Henson Avenue in Pearisburg Monday, November 28th from 5:30 to 7 PM, followed by a memorial service Monday at 7 PM with Pastor Alvin Trivette officiating.
