Ayers, Annie Woods

Annie Woods Ayers, 77, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blacksburg. She was a former resident of Martinsville. She was born December 30, 1933 in Hillsville, the daughter of the late Fred and Dorthus Woods. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Waldo Ayers; sister, Mrs. Steve (Margie Woods) Shupe, of Hillsville; and brother, Alvin Woods, of Woodlawn. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Judith Noe) Myers of Christiansburg, Janet Lee Ayers of Martinsville, Mrs. Scott (Dorothy) Cook of Iron Gate, N.C., and Mrs. Keith (Jennifer) Burks of Chesterfield; three beloved grandchildren, Bree Nacole Cook of Iron Gate, N.C., and Taylor Rayne Burks and Ethan Joseph Burks, both of Chesterfield; two sisters, Mrs. Abe (Helen) Chappell and Mrs. Fred (Georgie) Parnell, both of Hillsville; and brother, Friel Woods of Thomasville, N.C. A memorial service will be conducted at Shiloh Methodist Church at Five Forks in Hillsville at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, with the Rev. Ray Bolen officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Heart Association . The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
