Austin, John W.

John W. (Bill) Austin, of Radford, Va., was born January 9, 1928 and was called to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, August 8, 2007.

John was retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant where he was employed for 27 years. After retirement, he spent his time gardening, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. His parents, George Andrew and Eva Gertrude Austin, four sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Lavere Ruth Austin; a son, Charles W. (Willie) Austin and wife, Cheryl D. Austin of Radford, a son, Roger D. (Mooney) Austin of Radford; a daughter, Mary Jane Turner and husband, Hubert Atlas Turner of Pulaski; his brother-in laws, Arlond Taylor of Wyoming, Harold Lester of Christiansburg, Frank Alderman of Bassett and Joseph Alderman Vesta, his sister-in-laws, Cosby Bishop of Christiansburg, Clara Williams of Stuart, Ruby Sloan of Blacksburg and Judy Reynolds of Meadows of Dan; also grandchildren and spouses, Lynn and Daniel Bentley of Pilot, John W. and Kesha Franklin of Riner, Melissa and Bruce Burks of Pulaski, Douglas R. Franklin of Radford, Michael W. and Michelle Austin of Riner, and Kevin D. and Ann Austin of Christiansburg; great grandchildren, Anthony E., Dustin A., and J.C. McPeak, Jessica Eli and Andrew Franklin, Marcus Burks and Tyler and Garrett Austin, hi step grandchildren, Monica Turner and Marcia Turner, both of Pulaski; his step great grandchildren, Ashley Burks, Haley turner, Nina Garcia, Mike and Kyran Lewis, Joshua, Jacob and Lori Pagans.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Buford Linkous officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2007 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford, Va.
