atwood_david_arnoldDavid Arnold Atwood, 55, of Pembroke and formerly of Narrows, departed this life on Thursday evening, May 12, 2011, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg after a long illness. Born in Beckley, W.Va., on February 7, 1956, he was a Ham Radio Enthusiast (K4WICH). He was proud to be a NRA member, was an employee of Volvo in Dublin, and was a proud Green Wave Graduate of Narrows High School 1974. He was preceded in death by his father, David Fred Atwood. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Pearl Maxine Hatfield Hughes, of Beckley, W.Va.; his stepmother, Vivian Atwood, of Norris, Tenn.; his brother, Paul Atwood and his wife, Penny, of Clayton, N.C.; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Gayle and Norman Schnorf, of Gulf Port, Miss., Janice and Raymond Plymale, of Coal City, W.Va., Laddie and Tom Dyke, of Osceola, Mo., Tammy and Timmy Spicer, of Narrows, and Judy and Bill Psathas Jr., of Narrows; his stepdaughter, Michelle and her husband, Chris Whittaker, of Roanoke; his stepson, Chris Davis, of Pearisburg; and his 52 nieces, nephews, greatnieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, May 15, 2011, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Ward Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memory Gardens at Rich Creek. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. before the services.
