Atkinson, William Bane

William Bane Atkinson, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the age of 87. Bane was born on April 15, 1930.

He was in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1958. He retired from Kawneer AMAX in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Atkinson; his children, Cindy Appel, Steve Atkinson, Tony Atkinson and Laura Eades; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at Lotz Salem Chapel , 1330 E. Main St, Salem, Va.

In lieu of flowers, Bane would like donations to the Hokie Club and the Wounded Warriors Association.
