Atkinson, Oliver Spencer

Oliver Spencer (Skeebo) Atkinson, 85, of Radford went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 25, 2007 in Carilion New River Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Boyd Atkinson, his parents, Beulah Abby and William Evans Atkinson, his sisters, Mary Ann Atkinson, and Ada Smith, and his brothers, Ray, Burton, Clifton, Nelson, and Boyd Atkinson.

He was retired from Burlington Mills after forty-two years. He was a Charter member of the I.W.L.A. He loved hunting and fishing and was the Cabins Landlord. He served many times as a juror in the Radford courts. A pilgrim in Moose Lodge #1470 in Christiansburg.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis (Pat) and Lewis Miles, Christiansburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael L. and Diane N. Atkinson, Radford; four grandchildren, Kelly Branscom, Radford, Kimberly Moore, Roanoke, Seth Atkinson, Virginia Beach, and Abby Atkinson, Radford; along with two great-grandchildren, Renee Branscom, Cora Holdren; his sister, Hilda Kite, Staunton, and a special care giver, Karen Alderman, along with many friends and relatives.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Barry Van Steenburg officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford.
