Atkinson, Lula Keith

Her children rise up and call her Blessed. Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” – Proverbs 31:28-29. Lula Keith Atkinson, 99, of Shawsville, passed away at her daughter’s home on Sunday, April 22, 2007.

She was a member of the Texas Chapel Church, Shawsville known now as the Maranatha Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence William Keith and Alton Atkinson; her son, Kenneth William Keith. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Phyllis Ann Keith of Shawsville; son, Wesley Atkinson and wife, Barbara of Christiansburg; and daughter-in-law, Barbara A. Keith of Shawsville; grandchildren, Michael Light and wife, Lisa, Julie Brookman and husband, Stevie, Brian Keith and wife, Lisa, Lee-Ann Bibb, Cymrick Woolwine and husband, Rick, Sarah Benson and husband, Mike, Connie Havens and husband, Tony; 12 great-grandchildren, five greatgreat-grandchildren, special niece and friend, Colleen Moore and husband, Marvin. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Carilion Hospice of the New River Valley for their friendly help and dedicated service.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2007 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Sutphin officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery.
