atkinson_jacob_matthewOn Monday, August 16, 2010, Jacob Matthew Atkinson journeyed home to be with the Lord. A beloved son, family member and friend to so many, Jacob will be missed by all, yet his life and short time with us will be forever remembered by his beautiful smile and big blue eyes, cherished and celebrated. Jacob, 18, had a wonderfully passionate and unfathomable love for animals, cooking, and the delighted, often undiscovered natural treasures of our forest, streams and lakes. Jacob was preceded in death by his grandfather, Edward “Buster” Bishop; and great-granny, Lucy Atkinson with whom he shared his birthday with; and his great-grandfather, Everette Atkinson. He is survived by his parents, Tim and Penny Atkinson; brother, Josh and his wife, Kelly; and his much loved nephews, Tyler and Isaiah. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Patricia Bishop; paternal grandparents, Jack and Betty Atkinson; uncles and aunts, Jack and Gail Atkinson, Kim and Jerry Bowyer, Chris and Ruth Smith, Eddie and Sue Smith. Many cousins, great-uncles and great-nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the funeral home to help with services. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at The Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010, in The Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. W.P. Turpin and the Rev. Jim Sutphin officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www. hornefuneralservice.com.
