Atkinson, Ilse Lotte (Bertolds)

Ilse Lotte (Bertolds) Atkinson, 68, of Shawsville, Va., left her home in Suntofin, Germany, in 1967 to come to Virginia to be with her love, Mack, and on Monday, January 24, 2011, went to be with the Lord. She was born on July 28, 1942. Ilse was a devoted and loving wife, aunt and friend. All who knew her will miss her heavy accent and radiant smile. Ilse was a kind and loving person; she owned and ran Ilse’s Wig Boutique for 25 years, touching the lives of many in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johann and AnnaMaria from Germany; and Lucy and Everett Atkinson, of Shawsville. Ilse leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 43 years, Mack; and beloved dog, Trouble; her sister, Lisel and husband, Horst; and brother, Haans and wife, Stella; as well as nieces, nephews and other family and friends in Germany; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and spouses, Garland Atkinson, Howard and Linda Atkinson, Jack and Betty Atkinson, Vivian and Dale Semones, Dick and Kay Atkinson, Phyllis and James Epperly, Allen and Corrine Atkinson, Connie and Glenn Hall and Debbie Davis; as well many nieces, nephews and friends in the United States. Ilse was also blessed to have many special people in her life such as Carla and her children that brought her love and laughter daily and the German Club and she was also a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011, from the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Vest officiating. Interment to follow at Piedmont Cemetary, Shawsville.
