atkinson_frances_martinFrances Martin Atkinson, 90, of Market Road, Narrows, departed this life for her Heavenly home on Wednesday morning, August 10, 2011, in the loving care of her family at her home. Born in Princeton, W.Va., on June 13, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Lawson and Lillie Foley Martin. She was a member of Word of Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church in Rich Creek, was a graduate of Emmanuel Junior College in Franklin Springs, Ga., served faithfully with her late husband, the Rev. Cline Lee Atkinson, in his ministry, and had time to be a faithful and good mother to their family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sons, Gerald R. Atkinson and Darrell Lee Atkinson. She leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law, The Rev David and The Rev Kathy R. Atkinson, of Narrows; her daughters and sons-inlaw, Linda A. and Donald Dalton, of Narrows, and Brenda Carol and Larry Turner, of Narrows; her grandchildren, Marcie McCroskey, Anna Atkinson, Wendy Hamlin, Emily T. Huffman, Kelsey Turner, and Tracie Bryant; her 12 greatgrandchildren; her brother, Ernest Lee Martin, of Mullens, W.Va.; and her sister, Virginia M. Smith, of Bristol, Va. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with the Rev. Dennis Haga and the Rev. David Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pentecostal Holiness Appalachian Conference Cemetery in Dublin, Va.
