Atkinson, David Lee

Obituary for David Lee Atkinson January 2, 1961 – June 15, 2016. Alleghany Springs lost a long time friend and neighbor. David will be missed by all. He is being laid to rest after fighting a long 10 months of lung cancer.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clinton J. and Gladys Owens Atkinson; sister, Paula Laignel; and father, Paul Weiss. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Hale-Atkinson; children, Scott and Melinda Collins, Angela Collins-Potes, Justin Thornhill, Loren Thornhill-Smith, and Madison Thornhill, whom he raised as his own; and grandchildren, Scott Collins Jr., Alissa Scott, Ryann Collins, Allison Collins, Candice Scott, Haley Thornhill, Kalie Thornhill, Shane Timbrooks Jr., Dakota Thornhill, and Justin Thornhill Jr. He is also survived by his mother, Emily Weiss; brother, Jimmy Weiss; sisters, Dessie Hall, Leslie Cunningham, and Debbie Sellors; along with many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held at his home open to all who come with peace in their heart on June 17, 2016, beginning at 12 noon at 3552 Angus Lane, Shawsville, VA. Graveside Service will be held at Barnett Cemetery on June 18, 2016, at 10 a.m., with David Sisson officiating.
