Atkinson, Betty Morgan

Betty Lou Morgan Atkinson, born July 5, 1936 in Clifton Forge, VA, but lived her adult life in Shawsville, VA, joined her loved ones in Heaven on Sunday, December 20, 2020.

Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a member of Sowder’s Chapel Baptist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Morgan and Lelia Curtis Morgan; her husband, Jack Atkinson Sr.; grandchildren, Jacob (son of Tim and Penny), Amanda and Kristin (daughters of Jack Jr.).

Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Jack (wife Gail), Tim (wife Penny); grandson, Josh (wife Kelly) – which was her pride and joy; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Isaiah and Jonah Atkinson, Bailey Atkinson, Conor Johnson, Andrea and Kailey Henderson; sister, Lelia ‘Sissy’ Helms; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Medi Hospice and the special nurses that took such good care of her as well as the staff at Heritage Hall.
Visitation will be at Horne Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, from 10-11 a.m., with the Funeral Service to follow at 11 in the Chapel. Chaplain Robbie Vance will officiate the Service. Interment will take place at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, VA, at a later date.
