Jesse Woodrow Atkins, 59, of Floyd, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2007. He was preceded in death by his father, James Atkins, his brother, Jimmy Atkins, and his father-in-law, Morris Nolen.

Jesse was employed for 35 years as a truck driver for WILCO, where he made many special friends. He was also a charter member of Floyd Moose Lodge # 2300.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Nolen Atkins; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scotty and Sylvia Atkins, Jamie and Wendy Atkins; his mother, Gladys Boyd Atkins; four grandchildren, Shawn, Haley, Brady, and Evan Atkins; three brothers and sister-in-law, Jerry and Susie Atkins, Justin Atkins, and Joel Atkins; his mother-in-law, Lena Nolen; sister-in-law and spouse, Lakewood and Betty NolenCox; brothers-in-law and spouse, Robbie and Wanda Nolen, and Mike Nolen; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; a special friend, Lisa McGhee; his special pet, Destiny.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2007 at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Allan Vass officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery.

Friends may call on Thursday after 1 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
