Clarence H. Atkins, 93, of the Maybrook area of Giles County near Pembroke, died Saturday morning, October 13, 2007 at his home.

Born at Hoges Store on March 26, 1914, he was a son of the late Samuel and Carlie Thompson Atkins. Clarence was a life long resident and farmer of Giles County and was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church in Hoges Store.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary W. Atkins and a brother Garnett W. Atkins. Surviving include one son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Jean Atkins of Rockport, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda A. and Tommy Long of Pembroke and Doris J. and Bill VanMullen of Anticoh, Tennessee; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday October 16, 2007 at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church in Hoges Store with his Pastor Bill Greer and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m..
