Asbury, Thomas Edward

Thomas (Tom) Edward Asbury, 79 of Pearisburg, VA., passed on into the Joys of Heaven on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at his home in the presence of his family. Tom was born on July 21, 1942, in Bluefield, WV to the late Oscar Thomas Asbury and Estelle Hall Asbury. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 24 years, Joyce Worley Asbury and his beloved daughter, Sherri Asbury Pearson.

In 1987 Tom and Faye moved to Alabama where they lived for 30 years, returning to the mountains in 2017. Tom was a member of Sand Mountain Saddle Club in Boaz, Alabama and participated in the annual trail rides to Montgomery, Alabama. Tom loved his animals. He had two horses, Big John and Cody as well as his dogs, especially Katy Mae, his favorite. Tom was a gentle and kind soul, and will truly be missed, and always loved.

Left to cherish his memory is, his wife of 34 years, Faye Amos Asbury. He is also survived by children and step-children, one son, Eddie Asbury of Princeton, WV, Kimberly Mapes (James) of Arkansas, Melissa Hoover (Rick) of Johnson City, TN, Thomas Brown (Jovanny) of Illinois and Cindy Niece (Dewayne of Pembroke, one sister, Joann Leonard (Tony) of Salem, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, from 11 – 12pm with a graveside funeral service following at 1pm at the Roselawn Cemetery in Princeton, WV, with Rev. Raymond Amos officiating.
