Arrington, Phillip Reid
Phillip Reid Arrington, 66, of Blacksburg, died on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at his home. He was born in Farmville, Va., on November 23, 1946, to the late Walter Reid and Eunice Smith Arrington. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart. He was an avid Hokie Fan, enjoyed trout fishing and going to deer camp with his buddies. He is survived by his son, Michael Arrington and Virginia Lewis; daughter and son-in- law, Kathy and Mike Shamblin; two grandchildren, Alexa and Matthew Shamblin; two sisters and brother-in- law, Diane Arrington, and Mary and Bob Hockett; brother, Tommy Arrington; niece, Lauren Reed, and husband, Shawn; nephews, Robbie Hockett, and Andy and Reid Arrington; and special friends, Billy Caldwell and Joe Schickling. Graveside Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013, in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Reggie Tuck officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Voluntary Services, 135 Salem VAMC, 1970 Roanoke Blvd., Salem, VA 24153.
