William (Bill) Atha Armentrout, 80, of Radford, passed away Sunday night, June 22, 2014. Bill was born in Sperryville, Va on February 10, 1934 the son of the late Frank and Beulah Armentrout.

He was an Army Veteran and moved to Radford in 1966. He was a 1960 graduate of the MCV School of Pharmacy. He continued the family pharmacy practice at Radford Drug and was named President of the Virginia Pharmacy Association in 2001. He enjoyed golf, shooting pool, and lake time with family. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and the Board of Directors for St. Albans.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Shirley Kirby Armentrout. They enjoyed time with their family, traveling, church, and civic activities. He leaves behind three sons, James Smith Armentrout and wife Connie C. Armentrout, Scott William Armentrout and wife Alice P. Armentrout, Mark Reid Armentrout and wife Karen B. Armentrout; six grandchildren, Brian James Armentrout and wife Kelly P. Armentrout, Dylan Scott Armentrout, Landon Reid Armentrout, Brett Conner Armentrout, John Alexander “Zan” Armentrout, and Kara Elizabeth Armentrout; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Judy Armentrout and Bob and Judy Armentrout; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Martha and Don Howell.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Central United Methodist Church in Radford with Rev. Don Shelor officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Dublin where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Central United Methodist Church, 803 Wadsworth St., Radford, VA 24141 or to your favorite charity.
