Apgar, Donald David

Donald David Apgar, 87, of Elliston, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017.

He was born April 4, 1930. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Donald was a longtime attendant and supporter of Crockett Springs United Methodist Church in Shawsville. He was a sweet and kind gentleman who loved the outdoors and being in the mountains. He loved fishing and riverboats, rafting in the ocean at Myrtle Beach and enjoyed traveling in the western states.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hazel Apgar and a brother, Michael Apgar.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 65 years, Mildred Mills Apgar; a sister, Ruth Glock; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Apgar;a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Jeanette Apgar; nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Billy and Linda Marshall .

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Lotz Salem Chapel. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
