Thomas James Anthony, LtCol., United States Army (Ret.), 88, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Lewis Gale HospitalMontgomery. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 29, 1922, to the late Wess F. and Agnes Grothjan Anthony. He proudly retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army after three wars (World War II, Korea, and Vietnam). He was a 1940 graduate of Saint Xavier High School and attended Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio from 1940 to 1943. He received a BS in 1954 from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles and MBA in 1955. He is survived by his wife, Marjean J. Anthony, of Blacksburg; two daughters and son-in-law, Helen Peyton and Van White of Newport News, Aileen Agnes Anthony, of Silver Spring, Md.; a son and daughter-in-law, T.J. Anthony and Connie Marshall, of Greenwich, Conn.; two stepchildren, Andrea Lynn Johnson, of Bronx, N.Y., Robert Paul and Julie Johnson, of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Mary Agnes Anthony, of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Sarah Elliott and husband, Charles, David White and wife, Laura, Ruthanne White, Thomas James (Jack) Anthony; and a great-granddaughter, Isabella Rose White. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 14, 2011, 11 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Remi Sojka and the Rev. Gary Schroeder officiating. Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 11 a.m. in the St. Joseph New Cemetery in Cincinnati. Friends may call anytime after 10 a.m. Sunday, and the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
