Lewis Harvey Angle, 78, of Check, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2007. He served in the United States Navy on the submarine USS Tusk.

Lewis was always willing to help out anyone and was very active in serving his community. He was a member of Havens Chapel United Methodist Church. Lewis was also an active member of Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854, Floyd, Masonic Lodge #329 A.F. & A.M. and the Great Oaks Country Club, where he was instrumental in establishing the back 9.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Bennington Angle and a son, Melvin G. Angle. He is survived by his children and spouses, Steve L. Angle, Van and Janice Angle and Winona A. and David E. Baker; grandchildren and spouses, Justin Angle, Shawn Angle, Shannon and Lori Angle, Stacy Baker, Andrea and Allen Sehen and Colt Baker; great-grandson, Hunter Angle; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Louise Angle and Sam and Gwinn Angle; sister, Mildred Thomson; stepgrandchildren, Mickey and Anita Alderman, Barry Alderman and Angie Alderman; stepgreat grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley and Michael; sisters-in-Law and brothers-in-Law, Ruth and John Harman and Nancy and Billy Bandy and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2007, at Havens Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Coles Cemetery with graveside Military Rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854 and American Legion #127.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. on Sunday at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday by Floyd Masonic Lodge #329 A.F. & A.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854, C/O David Poff, 6246 Floyd Highway North, Check VA 24072. Arrangements by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
