Ronald Allen Anderson, 70, of Narrows, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 12th, 2014 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. He was born in Giles County on October 19th, 1943, and was the son of the late Tyler Eugene and Maude Clarice Turner Anderson. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a son, Roger Allan Anderson.

A 1962 graduate of Narrows High School, he served in the United States Army for 35 years, retiring as Command Sergeant Major. Most recently, Ronald served as pastor at Wayside Baptist Mission and owned Ron’s NASCAR Merchandise outside Rich Creek. An avid golfer, gardener, and collector of various items, he loved people and never met a stranger.

armyLeft to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 50 years, Loretta Kay Wade Anderson; two sons, Ronald Allen Anderson, Jr. of Hinesville, Georgia, and Bryan Scott Anderson and wife Tricia of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, Falynn, and Alexis; four sisters, Carol Wallace and husband Ralph of Gainesville, Georgia, Patsy Franklin and husband Jess of Charlottesville, Rebecca Ludwig of Narrows, Claudia Jean Sosebee of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, Lawrence Murray Anderson of Rich Creek; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 16th, 2014 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Aubrey Whitlow and Rev. Jason Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek with graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, American Legion Posts #68 of Narrows, #311 of Pembroke and #145 of Peterstown. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Saturday from 6 to 8 PM.
