Anderson, Mary Jo

Mary Jo Anderson, 77, of Rich Creek, Va., passed away Friday, July 24, 2009, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born July 29, 1931, in Patrick Co., Va., she was the daughter of the late Lloyd P. and Maggie A. Overby. Mary Jo was the Postmaster for the Rich Creek Post Office from 1975 to 1992. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rich Creek where she was a member of the choir and the WMU, an avid bridge player, Vice Mayor for the Town of Rich Creek and a member of the Rich Creek Town Council. Survivors include her husband, Fred Anderson; a son, Michael Anderson and wife, Tammy, of Narrows, Va.; a daughter, Jeanette Bradley and husband, David, of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Larry Overby, of Stuart, Va.; and a sister, Frances Scott, of Ararat, Va. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009, at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rich Creek, Va. with the Rev. Jim Pickett and the Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside services should meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2009, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, W.Va.
