Anderson, Gladys Hilda

Gladys Hilda Anderson, 80, of Blacksburg, departed this life Thursday morning, August 4, 2011 at Radford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in the loving care of her family. Born in Giles County, on June 18, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Paul C. “Dick” Thornhill and Gertrude Perkins Thornhill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Anderson; one son, James Earl Anderson; one daughter, Martha Anderson; one sister, Frances Stout, and brother, Chester Thornhill. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Marshall Anderson and his fiancé Wanda Alls of Blacksburg; her daughter, Anna Faye and Roger Dowdy of Pearisburg; her four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Paul Thornhill of Pembroke, Roy Thornhill of Pearisburg, Gary Thornhill of Pearisburg, Letha T. Jones of Pembroke, and Ann Suttle of Pembroke.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Carol Stables. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
