Alvarez, Barbara Kanode

Barbara Kanode (Bobbie) Alvarez, 61 of Shawsville went to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 2, 2010. Bobbie was a long time member of Senneca Baptist Church in Elliston. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and James Phillips, of Pilot, Joetta and Scott Stewart, of Roanoke; grandchildren, Nicholas Phillips, of Pilot, Andrew and Raven Phillips, of Salem, Jade Phillips, of Pilot and Stacie and Garett Brown, of Christiansburg. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Cory and Hunter Brown and Gage Phillips; mother, Rachel Dorothy Kanode, of Christiansburg; brother and sister-in-law, John D. “J.D.” and Susan Kanode, of Harrisonburg, Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Lee and Gary Nuckolls, of Alabama. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, “Peakaboo”. The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 3 to 4 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 4 p.m with Pastor John Collins officiating.
