Altizer, Sue Barnett

Sue Barnett Altizer, of Riner, Va., died on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at New River Valley Medical Center. She was born in Kentucky to the late Earnest and Mae Garrett Barnett. Sue was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Kenneth Barnett; sister, Belva Barnett; and one sister-in-law, Linda Barnett.

She was a kind and generous person, loving her family and friends alike. She retired from Hercules-Alliant Tech in 2010 with over 30 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, Buster Altizer, of Riner; daughter and son-in-law, Katrina Gardner and Wally Melton, of Dublin; granddaughter, Lexus Melton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon Loar and Gratton, of Tampa, Fla., Ruth Barnett and David Creighton, of Thaxton, Va., and Jewell Moore, of Blacksburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff Barnett and Donna Reynolds, of Blacksburg, and Ernie Barnett and Marla, of Christiansburg; stepdaughter, Sherry Altizer, of Christiansburg; stepson and daughter-in-law, Denny and Renne Altizer, of Christiansburg; step granddaughters, Katelyn Altizer and McKinzie Altizer; nieces, Kendra Gaugush and husband, Simon, Beth Barnett, and Nicole Barnett; special friends, Ola Melton, Lori Baker, and Macy Melton; and too many friends to mention.

Memorial Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Ray Kingera officiating.

She loved all flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Riner Rescue Squad can be made or charity of your choice.

Special thanks to the Riner Rescue Squad and all the nurses on the CCU unit at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, January 20, 2012, at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, 150 Country Club Dr., SW, Blacksburg, Va.
