Altizer, Kyle Morris

Mrs. Kyle Morris Altizer, 90, of Dublin, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, from Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.

She was born August 14, 1917, in Pulaski County, and was the daughter of the late Lillie Smith Morris and Jordan F. Morris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brady J. Altizer; an infant daughter, Peggy Ann Altizer; son, B.J. Altizer Jr.; grandson, Jeffrey Scott Altizer; sisters, Maggie, Ruby, Carrie, Metta and Claudia; and brothers, Malcolm, Bentley, Shirley and Roscoe.

She was a loving and devoted mother, proud Nana and grateful sister. She was known to many as “Mrs. Kyle.” She was a faithful and long-time member of Newbern Community Christian Church and was active in church functions until her declining health would not permit. She relished in the fact that she was the oldest member on roll. Kyle was a dedicated Christian that always strove to do for others. She delighted in cooking and preparing scrumptious meals for all to enjoy when her health allowed.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter and son-in-law, Dale and Gene Reece; grandson and wife, Derek and Rebecca Reece; granddaughter and boyfriend, Whitney Reece and Daniel Grim; great-granddaughter, Hunter, all of Snowville; sister, Lena Graham, of Dublin; sister and brother-in-law, Gertrude and Clayton Stiltner, of Cattlettsburg, Ky.; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Altizer, of Newbern. Also survived by a number of special nieces and nephews; many friends; her church family; and special family friend, Becky Cullip.

The family is especially thankful to her sister, Lena, that took such good care of Mama; to Becky Cullip for the numerous good deeds she did to help Mama; and to Lila Turpin, that made her last days at home as pleasant as possible.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2008, at the Newbern Community Christian Church with the Rev. Ernie DePew and Pastor Mike Honoker officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.

Visiting will be anytime on Saturday, June 28, 2008, after 4 p.m. at Thomas M.
