Alls, Gerald Winston
Gerald Winston Alls, 78, of Blacksburg, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Montgomery County, Va., on August 7, 1936, to the late Robert Luther and Annie Inez Trimble Alls. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Gail Gallimore.
He retired after 20 years from the United States Army having served a tour of duty in Korea and two tours of duty Vietnam. Mr. Alls also retired from Virginia Tech. He attended Blacksburg Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Mr. Alls loved to fish, and was an avid Hokie Fan.
He is survived by his wife, Elvira R. Alls; three daughters and sons-in-law, Clorene Brokofsky, Shirley and Douglas Hungate, all of Blacksburg, Linda and Edison Vaught, of Draper; son, Michael Alls of Blacksburg; seven grandsons, Billy Vaught, Doug, James and Jason Hungate, Jonathan, Nicholas, and Robert Brokofsky; five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kristina and Owen Vaught, Emma and Sophie Hungate; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte Ratcliffe of Blacksburg, Evelyne and Roger Mueller, Clorene and Bob Brizendine, all of Richmond; two brothers, Richard Alls of Salem, and Wayne Alls of Christiansburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
