Frances Lane Allen, 96, of Peterstown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2020. Frances was born in Kimball, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Steve Anderson Lane and Nora Jane Mullins Lane.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow “Pud” Allen in 2008 and the recent death of her only son Kenneth Woodrow Allen in April of 2020. Frances was also predeceased by several siblings: Rachel Lane Fizer, Roby and Ruth Lane, Reatha and Russell Allen, Edith and Gene Mullet, David Lane, Roger Lane, Shirley Lane, Clifton Ballard, and Jim Titman.

Frances began working at the Celanese Corporation at the age of 17 and worked there for almost 50 years prior to her retirement.

Frances is survived by two grandchildren, Travis Layne Allen of 308 Buffalo Mt. Lane, Unicoi, Tennessee 37692 and a granddaughter, Melia Allen Fleeman and her husband, Chad, of 113 Woodbriar Drive in Johnson City, Tennessee 37604. Mamaw loved to watch the videos of her three great-grandsons playing baseball and would sit for hours and look at the photos taken by Kenneth at their games. Chadwick Kincade Fleeman, 16, Braxton Cole Fleeman, 13, and Cooper Layne Fleeman, 8, provided much entertainment and joy to her life. Jeanne Allen, her former daughter-in-law, remained close to her throughout the years.

Surviving siblings (and in-laws) are Nathan Lane of Peterstown, Causby Johnson, Mary Titman and Carol Lane of Ohio, Hazel Ballard of Beckley, Margaret Lane of Rich Creek, and Janie and Jim Keatley of Florida. She was blessed with many loving nieces and nephews, but shared a special bond with nieces Pat Harvey and Sue Bradley.

Visitation at Broyles Shrewsbury Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Peterstown Cemetery.

Special thanks goes out to Sheena Charlton, Regan McMahan, Wilbur Gooslin, Karen Wilson and Sandy Crawford who provided loving care for Frances during her final days. Peyton Hospice House staff extended remarkable assistance and compassion. Thank you.
