Allen, Billy Ray

Billy Ray Allen, 73, of Rich Creek, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Florida Hospital, Orlando, Fla. Our loving husband, father, and grandfather was born Dec. 17, 1933 in Newhall, and was the son of the late George and Florence Poplin Allen.

Mr. Allen was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rich Creek, and the American Legion Post No. 68 of Narrows, Va. He was a retired employee of Celanese Corp. having worked their for 30 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Ramsey and Edythe Mullins and a brother, Harry Allen.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mae Bradley Allen; his son, Steven Ray and wife Cindy of Dublin, Va.; one sister, Evelyn White Hall of Kingsport, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Brandon and Shana of Dublin; one nephew, Terry Mullins of Tazewell, Va.; and six nieces, Janice Fields of Palm Coast, Fla., Patty Kalamovocus of Laurel, Md., Judy Kindle and Brenda Ryan, both of Kingsport, Phyllis Shelton of Richlands, Va., and Debbie Mullins of Cedar Bluff, Va.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2006, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, with the Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rich Creek.
