Aldridge, William H.

William H. (Bill) Aldridge, 77, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. A 1953 graduate of Lynchburg College, he was also a United States Army Veteran. He was owner and operator of retail furniture businesses for over 44 years, including, Fashion House Furniture, “on the Square.”

Elder of the Snowville Christian Church, he was Past President of the Christiansburg Chamber of Commerce, and a past board member of New River Valley Health Foundation.

Born in Henry County “Martinsville” he was the son of the late Ashley and Myrtle Aldridge. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lucas Aldridge; sons, Lee Aldridge, of Staten Island, N.Y., Sam Aldridge, of Gilford, N.H., and Bill Aldridge, of Christiansburg, Va.; daughter, Beth Aldridge, of Marshfield, Mass.; grandchildren, Andrew Aldridge, Forest Aldridge, Libby Aldridge, Eamon Aldridge, Kelly A. Noto and husband, Steve, and Brannon Aldridge; greatgranddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Noto; a sister, Betty Ann Hodges, of Christiansburg, Va.; aunt, Freda Robertson, of Martinsville; and many, many special friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the Horne Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2008, at the Snowville Christian Church conducted by Pastor Jonathan Webster with interment to follow in the Lucas Family Cemetery.
