Alderman, Sr. Fred Lee
Fred L. Alderman Sr., 63, of Christiansburg, and Deltona, Fla., passed away peacefully in his Florida home on Thursday, June 14, 2012. Born to the late Lorene Trump Alderman and William Allen Alderman, Fred was a lifelong resident of the Sugar Grove community. For the past 25 years, he was a general contractor in the New River Valley, known for his high standards and quality craftsmanship. An avid hunter and fisherman, Fred began each day with a prayer of thanksgiving for nature’s beauty. Fred is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Alderman; children, Frankie Alderman, of Christiansburg, Johnnie Alderman, of Pulaski, Freddie and Jessica Alderman, of Christiansburg, Missy Martin, of Christiansburg, Sarah Mankie, of Roanoke, Kendall Mankie and Nicole Coppock, of Spring Lake, N.C. and Ashley and Marlin Reeves, of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Ciera Martin, of Christiansburg, Dylan Alderman, of Christiansburg, Haley and Nathan Mankie, of Spring Lake, N.C. and Marley Reeves, of Christiansburg; brothers and sisters, Sammy and Freda Alderman, of Pilot, Christine and Wendell McNeil, of Check, Jack and Ruth Alderman, of Willis, Marie and Jimmy Walters, of Riner, Judy and Kenneth Garlick, of Ironto, Betty and Rodney Houston, of Martinsville, Ben Wood, of Richmond, and Rena and Jerry Austin, of Roanoke; and mother-in-law, Callie Robinette, of Roanoke. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. Funeral services will be held at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Youmans officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
