Harley Rush Alderman, 92, of Willis, passed away on Monday September 15, 2008. Mr. Alderman was a member of Willis United Methodist Church. He was an original member of the “Good Intentions” gospel singers. His musical legacy is carried on by his great-grandson, Josh Reedy, of Decemberadio.

Mr. Alderman was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Remon Alderman, two infant sons, and a son-in-law, Donald G. Sutphin. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lonzie C. and Josephine H. Alderman; one daughter, Evah Sutphin; five grandchildren and spouses, Sharon and Gary Reedy, Karen and Stanley Hawkins, Rhonda and Glenn Dixon, Becky Thompson, Jerry and Carol Sutphin; eleven great-grandchildren, Amy Jo Hawkins, Adam and Jacob Hawkins, Joshua and Carmen Reedy, Brittany, Hannah, Woody, and Joseph Dixon, Benjamin and Emily Thompson; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Jacob and Zachary Griffith; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Josh Kilbourne and the Reverend Stanley Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Willis Cemetery. Friends may call at Gardner Funeral Home on Tuesday after 1 p.m. where the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
